In the new year, I want to…
Want to learn Chinese with your kid?
That’s awesome! If you’re looking to raise bilingual kids and teach them Chinese, the best way to do it is have a graded learning series! We recommend the Odonata Graded Learning Series, partially because it’s the most affordable and has an excellent global reputation.
TIP: We used a graded learning series to learn vocabulary. Then, we let them enjoy and explore other picture books, stories, TV shows, songs etc.!
Want to read more with toddlers?
Early learning should be about letting them explore and enjoy! The Baby Bear Series is a charming set that covers toddler life from playing with friends, to potty training, to eating lunch! If you’re interested, you can continue browsing other toddler books and book sets here!
Want to encourage older kids to read Chinese books independently?
It’s easy for our kids to get distracted by video games, YouTube, movies and other digital media. So it’s important to give them books that will really encourage them! Check out the Mi Xiao Quan Brain Teasers for really fun ways for older kids to engage with Chinese. They’re full of witty jokes and sketches, with short, accessible stories for older children learning Chinese.
Want to learn about Chinese culture?
Sometimes we just celebrate Lunar New Year and then forget about Chinese culture after that. So This is a Year! gives us 12 books that lets us learn about Chinese culture for a whole year. We’ll learn about the 24 solar terms, important foods, activities, customs and more.
Celebrate ESEA heritage
We’ve got you! ESEA heritage and culture is something that we can be really proud of and we love selling books that reflect that. Here are a few recommendations in English, because we love sharing these with our friends, too!

A huge part of Chinese culture is… FOOD! Mmm! Delicious Breakfast! will give you lots of breakfast foods often enjoyed in Chinese cuisine. Enjoy illustrations that will make your mouth water in this how-it’s-made book. It’s a great book for meal inspiration!
Need some Chinese learning activities?
Aside from reading books, some activities will really help engage kids with their Chinese language skills. The more practice they get, the better! If you have no idea, you can check out this incredible 133-page activity book by Michelle Wong!
Learning history in Chinese?
We’ve got two suggestions here! First up: The Origins of Living! A set of 5 books that talk about how humankind developed electricity, homes, clothes, grain, and transportation into the world.
Second: Wonders of the Wardrobe is all about Chinese clothing (nowadays called ‘hanfu’ 汉服). It’s an exciting way to learn about Chinese history and culture — through fashion and textiles!
Want to learn some Chinese poetry?
We’ve got some Tang Dynasty poetry! It’s an interesting way for children to learn! The rhythmic style makes it fun to recite. Plus, it introduces challenging vocabulary, abstract concepts, and helps us discuss key issues in the world.
Encouraging kids to learn about God?
As parents, teachers, and guardians, one of the most important things we can do for children is to encourage them to seek God. A storybook Bible is the best place to start because they can start learning about God’s Word. We love God’s Great Plan Storybook Bible for this reason!
