About Beach Day Press

Amy Liang (the founder of Beach Day Press) is a speech-language pathologist and proud mother of 2. She works in early language development and wanted to combine her professional knowledge with personal experience to create a series of engaging and educational bilingual books for young bilingual readers. In her work, she always noticed there was a significant gap in available resources that were useful for language therapy and supporting early language skills. So, rather than continue to improvise, she chose to make her own! That’s how Beach Day Press was born.

Now, her books focus on helping children expand their language abilities as they grow:

  • Daily routines — The Beach Day Press books are centred around daily routines to help young children learn language through familiar contexts and activities that they engage in every day. They make perfect opportunities to learn and build on language skills!

  • Meaningful vocabulary — Every book emphasises words that are useful and functional, thus resonating with young children. From everyday objects, basic prepositions to family members, body parts and animals: the aim is to help children learn words that help them communicate in everyday life.

  • Repetition, repetition, repetition — These books are designed to be engaging and easy to follow for young children. Repetition allows little readers to refine their understanding and learn how it’s used in different sentences. The predictable text gives children confidence to fill in the blanks and participate in reading along!

  • The power of verbs — Each book highlights an everyday action to help children learn the action word (verb). Learning verbs help children combine words into phrases and sentences. WIth one verb, children can make many different combinations! (e.g. eat apple, eat more, I eat, they eat)

  • Reading guides — Each book comes with a reading guide to provide parents and caregivers with language-building strategies to use during reading time. They can also be easily integrated into their routines and playtime to create a bilingual environment that helps children learn naturally.

  • Bright, simple illustrations — The illustrations ensure that the books are visually engaging and easy to interpret without being overly distracting.
