Green Cows Books is an independent publisher of bilingual books for children that are designed to aid and increase language immersion in the home and opening up new opportunities to learn Chinese! These books are created with the bilingual home in mind, incorporating Chinese and English text alongside the Chinese romanisation to help everyone read.

The wonderful woman behind Green Cows Books is Karen Yee! Karen is a Cantonese-American mom living in San Francisco who has a passion for sharing her language with her children and husband. She realised that raising bilingual kids in an environment where Chinese was a minority language came with many intimidating factors: a lack of Cantonese resources being one of them! So, never completely disheartened by this, she began turning her homemade Cantonese resources into books that she could share with others… That’s when Green Cows Books was born!

Now, she finds joy in raising two beautiful bilingual sons and writing Cantonese books to help others do the same! Her books are trialed and tested by her own children, who are now confident enough to provide feedback and even translate for their mum! Green Cows Books is the fruits of a family working together and a mother who wants to share her language with, not just the family, but the world.
